Day 6 - Catlin NV to Hurricane UT (close to Zion National Park)

Got on the road at 6am.  Horrible breakfast in a slum casino.   Nearly raw eggs,  similar potatos, and grape jelly so old a knife was challenged to break the surface tension on the purple goo.

But the ride and vistas brightened our moods quickly as we set off for Zion....a 400+ mile drive away.

Nevada's openness and huge blue skys
are compelling.  It's hard to not feel more
refreshed and open just being there.

Stopped for lunch in Pioche before crossing into Utah.  An interesting place with history : "By 1870 Pioche had grown to become one of the most important silver-mining towns in Nevada.

The town had a reputation for being one of the roughest towns in the Old West. Local lore says 72 men were killed in gunfights before the first natural death occurred in the camp. This legend is immortalized by the creation of Boot Hill, now a landmark in the city."

Arrived in Hurricane UT, at our lodging around 4pm and Charles immediately began catching up on NCAA football action. Surprise surprise!

Tomorrow we begin exploring Zion.
